Drylongso

Taking its name from the Gullah word that illustrates the average Black way of doing, being, and dreaming; Cauleen Smith’s genre-bending masterwork is a study of Black love. Using photography student Pica’s desire to photograph Black men out of fear they will be extinct as a vehicle, Smith’s tender hand traces our friendships, our community, our romance to illustrate how love can be its own pathway to freedom.
