The Great White Hope


This safe, well-meaning drama stars an electric James Earl Jones as Jack Jefferson in a fictionalized account of boxer Jack Johnson’s life - the first Black heavyweight champion of the world. Jones received a Best Actor Academy Award nomination for his performance. Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning play of the same name.
