Charles Burnett's debut film is a neorealist day-in-the-life story that captures the poetry of the mundane among a group of Black men from South Central L.A. In this early work, the pioneering director plants seeds of brilliance that would fully bloom in his masterwork "Killer of Sheep" (1978).
