Lady Sings the Blues

Loosely based on Billie Holiday’s autobiography of the same name, this film chronicles the life and times of Lady Day. Diana Ross’s feature film debut holds the weight of the two star personas at the center– Diana’s own and her idol Billie Holiday’s. Diana Ross was nominated for Best Actress Academy Award for her performance. The film co-stars Billy Dee Williams, Richard Pryor, Isabel Sanford, and Lynn Hamilton.
