Emma Mae

When the Southern-born-and-raised Emma Mae goes to live with her family in the big city, her bright-eyed idealism slowly fades when she's faced with real-world problems that require her to come of age quickly. Jamaa Fanaka’s feature debut is a masterful subversion of expected Black film tropes. Also known as “Black Sister’s Revenge.”
