A Different Image

After breaking off a long term relationship, Alana commits to defining herself in her newly awakened Afrocenteric image. In cultivating a friendship with a male coworker, she feels freedom from the constraints of romance and being only defined by her physical beauty. Using Ralph Ellison’s Invisible Man as a framing device, Alile Sharon Larkin reminds us that few are more invisible to society than Black women.
